The Terminbestätigung is the workhorse text here. A typical practice letter confirms an appointment at the Bürgeramt on Montag, dem 5. März, um 9.30 Uhr, asks you to come punctually with your Reisepass and a photo, and adds the cancellation rule: if you cannot come, cancel by phone at least one day beforehand. The practice text defines it in one line: Wohngeld is a Zuschuss zur Miete, a subsidy toward your rent. You apply at the Wohngeldstelle of your city with your rental contract and proof of income, and incomplete applications are not processed.
