What the Policía Nacional knowledge test involves
How many questions is the Policía Nacional exam, and how long do you get?
The primera prueba is 100 questions in 50 minutes, and each question offers three answer alternatives of which only one is true (convocatoria BOE-A-2026-15055, base 6.1.1). That is half a minute per question, which is why the exam rewards recognising a provision rather than reasoning your way to it.
How is the Policía Nacional knowledge test marked?
Wrong answers are penalised: the convocatoria applies the formula [A−E/(n−1)]×10/P, where A is correct answers, E is wrong ones, n is the number of alternatives and P the number of questions. With three alternatives, n−1 is 2, so every two wrong answers cancel one correct answer. Blank answers do not count as errors and carry no penalty, which makes leaving a question blank strictly better than a blind guess.
What is the pass mark for the Policía Nacional exam?
The test is scored from 0 to 10 and the minimum is 3 points — but reaching 3 is not enough on its own. Only candidates who clear that minimum and then rank among the best scores continue, up to 1.75 candidates per place. It is an eliminating and ranking test at the same time, so the practical target is a competitive score rather than the stated floor.
How many places does the 2026 Policía Nacional convocatoria offer?
The convocatoria offers 2,163 places by oposición libre. A separate reserve exists for professional military personnel of tropa y marinería with at least five years' service, which is a distinct route with its own conditions; places left unfilled there accumulate to the oposición libre, so 2,163 is a floor rather than a ceiling for open candidates.
What subjects does the Policía Nacional syllabus cover?
Anexo I lists 45 temas in three blocks: Ciencias Jurídicas (temas 1–26), Ciencias Sociales (temas 27–37) and Materias Técnico-Científicas (temas 38–45). Legal material dominates — constitutional law, the Policía Nacional's own governing statutes, immigration and asylum, citizen security, criminal law and criminal procedure, victims' rights, data protection — alongside social science, Spanish grammar and orthography, computing and networks, intelligence and cybercrime, firearms and road safety.
Does this app cover the whole Policía Nacional selection process?
No, and it does not claim to. It covers the primera prueba, the knowledge test. The oposición also has a physical aptitude test and a psychotechnical, personality and interview stage; neither is knowledge a question bank can teach, and the psicotécnico in particular has no correct answers to drill. Medical assessment and interview are outside the app entirely.

Five parts of the syllabus have no questions, and the app says so in its own coverage notes rather than padding them out: tema 29, personal protective equipment within tema 45, polydrug use within tema 34, several network concepts within tema 39, and the repealed collective-representation articles within tema 21. Each is a case where no admissible source states the material, or where the law itself has been repealed.

Every one of the 720 citations was checked to resolve in the archived source (496 distinct citations), and the convocatoria's question count, option count, time limit, marking formula, 0–10 scale, 3-point minimum and 2,163 plazas were read verbatim from the archived BOE text rather than from a summary. Five gaps are disclosed rather than padded: tema 29 (no admissible archived source — CIS refuses automated retrieval and the OBERAXE survey serves a homepage), personal protective equipment within tema 45, polydrug use within tema 34, several network concepts within tema 39, and the collective-representation articles within tema 21, which LO 9/2015 repealed.
What this app does not cover
- This app covers the first test (knowledge), the 100 multiple-choice questions on the syllabus. The selection process also has a second, physical test and a third stage of psychotechnical and personality assessment plus an interview, none of which are prepared here. The psicotécnico's format can be practised, but this app teaches no 'correct' personality answers, because there are none. Medical assessment and interview are not covered.
- Tema 29 (social attitudes and values, stereotypes and prejudice) has no questions. No admissible archived source exists: CIS blocks the automated retrieval we use to verify every citation, and the OBERAXE survey serves the ministry's homepage instead of the document. Rather than cite something we cannot verify, we wrote no questions. Its share was redistributed across temas 28, 31 and 32, so the block's total is unchanged.
- Within tema 45, personal protective equipment is not covered: the archived INSST source does not state it. What Ley 31/1995 does regulate on the topic is written from the law itself; the rest was omitted rather than filled in with general knowledge.
- Within tema 34, polydrug use (politoxicomanía) is not covered: the archived Plan Nacional sobre Drogas source does not develop it. The rest of the tema is covered.
- Within tema 39, hubs, switches, firewalls, DHCP, proxies and IPv6 are not covered. The technical sources admitted for this tema (ITU-T X.200 for the OSI model and RFC 1122) do not define them, and we chose not to fill the gap with general knowledge or vendor documentation. The OSI model and the TCP/IP stack are covered.
- Within tema 21, collective representation rights and the Consejo de Policía are not treated as current law: articles 18 to 26 of LO 2/1986 were repealed by LO 9/2015 (sole repealing provision, paragraph 1.a). Presenting them as law in force would be wrong, so that part of the tema has no questions.
- The convocatoria does not publish how many questions come from each tema. The mock's distribution follows each tema's weight in the syllabus (45 temas mapped across this app's 20 areas), not an official proportion.

Which exam does this app prepare for?
The primera prueba de conocimientos of the oposición libre for the Policía Nacional's Escala Básica, categoría de Policía, run by the Dirección General de la Policía under convocatoria BOE-A-2026-15055: 2,163 plazas by oposición libre. A separate reserve exists for professional military personnel of tropa y marinería with at least five years' service; unfilled places there accumulate to the oposición libre.
How many questions are in the Policía Nacional test and how is it scored?
100 questions in 50 minutes, each with three alternatives of which only one is true. Marking applies [A−E/(n−1)]×10/P, so with three options every two wrong answers cancel one correct answer, and blanks are not penalised at all. The result is reported on a 0–10 scale.
What score do you need to pass?
A minimum of 3 points out of 10 — but that is a floor, not a pass in the ordinary sense. Only those who clear it and rank among the highest scores continue, up to 1.75 candidates per place. Aiming at 3 is aiming to be eliminated on rank.
Should you guess when you are unsure?
Not blindly. Because a blank costs nothing and two wrong answers cancel a correct one, a pure guess among three options has a negative expected value. Guessing pays only once you can rule out at least one alternative.
Does the app cover the physical test or the psychotechnical stage?
No. It covers the knowledge test only. The physical aptitude test, the psychotechnical and personality assessment, the interview and the medical stage are all outside it. The psicotécnico's format can be practised elsewhere, but no app can teach correct personality answers, because there are none.
Are any parts of the syllabus not covered?
Yes, and the app lists them in its own coverage notes. Tema 29 has no questions because no admissible archived source exists for it; personal protective equipment within tema 45, polydrug use within tema 34, and hubs, switches, firewalls, DHCP, proxies and IPv6 within tema 39 are not stated by the sources admitted for those temas; and the collective-representation articles within tema 21 were repealed by LO 9/2015, so presenting them as current law would be wrong.
