01Who we are

RiverMap Learning apps are published by RiverMap AI Solutions Ltd (Company No. 16521303), registered at 107-111 John Street, Office 300 Blades Enterprise Centre, Sheffield, England, S2 4QX ("we", "us", "our"). We make one-time-purchase, offline exam-preparation practice apps for iPhone and Android, and we operate the website rivermaplearning.com.

We are registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under reference ZC098962, and this policy is written to comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR). Questions about privacy or this policy can be sent to info@rivermapai.com.

What this policy covers. It applies to our one-time-purchase, offline exam-preparation apps and to this website. A few of our other apps, such as CapyMaths, B1Ready and B2Ready, offer optional accounts and cloud-synced features, so they handle some data (for example an email address) differently. Those apps are not covered here; each one's data practices are set out in its own App Store and Google Play data disclosure. Everything below describes the exam-preparation apps.

02No personal data collected

These exam-preparation apps have no sign-up, no login and no user accounts, and we never sell information about you. We do not know who you are, and we have no way to find out. Two things do leave your device, and neither identifies you: the crash and purchase diagnostics described in section 07, and your purchase itself, which is handled by Apple or Google as set out in section 04.

03On-device storage only

Your study progress, answered questions, scores, flashcard schedules and readiness statistics are stored only on your device, using your phone's standard app storage. None of your study data is ever uploaded anywhere. If you delete the app, that data is deleted with it. Your device's own backup system (such as an encrypted device backup) may include app data; that backup is controlled by you and your device, not by us.

04Purchases and restoring them

Apps are bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Payment itself is handled by Apple or Google under their own terms and privacy policies, and they act as independent controllers of that data. We do not receive your name, email address or payment details, only anonymous, aggregated sales reporting.

To confirm what you have unlocked, and to restore it on a new device, the apps use RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc., United States) as our processor. RevenueCat verifies the store receipt and keeps a record of that purchase so the app can unlock again without a login. That record is held against an anonymous identifier the RevenueCat SDK generates on your device: the apps never sign you in to RevenueCat and never hand it a name, an email address or an account of ours, because they have none. Restoring a purchase works through your Apple or Google account together with that anonymous record. Some of our apps are built without RevenueCat configured; those talk only to Apple or Google.

05Notifications

If you choose to enable study or exam-date reminders, these are local notifications: they are scheduled and delivered by your device itself. No notification data leaves your phone, and no push-notification service is used. You can disable them at any time in the app or in your system settings.

06Optional translation

If an app offers an optional "Translate" button on answer explanations and you choose to use it, the selected text is passed to your device's own translation feature (such as Apple's or Google's system translation) or to an external translation service, which processes it under its own privacy policy. We do not run the translation ourselves and we do not see the text. The feature is off unless you tap it.

07Crash reporting and diagnostics

The apps contain no advertising frameworks and no third-party advertising or marketing trackers. They do include one monitoring service: Sentry, run by Functional Software, Inc., which we use to find crashes and to check that purchases are working. It runs only in installed iPhone and Android builds, never on this website, and it starts with the app rather than waiting for a crash. Some of our apps are built without it configured at all; those send nothing.

What is sent.

• Crash and error reports, including the technical stack trace.
• The result of each purchase or "Restore Purchases" attempt: whether it succeeded, was cancelled, was already owned or failed, plus the store's own reference code and error sentence.
• Which app and app version it came from, your device model or family (for example "iPhone" or "SM-G991B") and your operating system version.
• Diagnostic context attached to a crash report, such as which practice mode or question was open when it happened.

What is not sent. No account, name or email address, because the apps have none. No advertising identifier such as IDFA or AAID: the apps contain no such code at all. No purchase receipt and no payment details. Your answers, scores and progress are never uploaded.

Sentry receives these reports at an endpoint in the European Union (ingest.de.sentry.io) and processes them for us under its own security and data protection terms. Apart from these reports and the store's own purchase verification, the apps make no network requests and are designed to work fully offline.

The website rivermaplearning.com uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party trackers, and its fonts are self-hosted rather than loaded from an external CDN. Like any website it is served by a hosting provider (Vercel), whose servers may keep standard technical logs such as IP addresses for security and reliability. We do not use those logs for tracking or to build any profile of you.

08Children's privacy

Our apps are general-audience study tools and are not directed at children; several cover adult qualifications such as citizenship tests. There are no accounts, no social features, no external links presented during study, and no advertising, so the apps collect no personal information from children. The crash and purchase diagnostics in section 07 describe the device and the app, not who is using it.

09Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. The crash and purchase diagnostics in section 07 are not linked to any account or identifier we could look you up by, so in practice there is usually nothing for us to retrieve or erase, and the study data on your device is yours to clear at any time by deleting the app. If you believe we hold any personal data about you, contact info@rivermapai.com and we will respond. You also have the right to complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.

10International data transfers

The crash and purchase diagnostics described in section 07 are sent to Sentry's European Union endpoint. Where a purchase, app delivery, optional translation or website hosting is handled by Apple, Google, RevenueCat or Vercel, those companies may process the data necessary for that service outside the UK under their own policies and safeguards. Our role is limited to choosing reputable providers.

11Changes to this policy

If we ever change how an app handles data, we will update this policy and the change will be reflected in the app's store listing before it takes effect. The effective date at the top of this page always shows the current version.
