Prepare for the closed-book Oregon Laws and Rules written examination with mock sittings and flashcards drawn straight from the public Oregon statutes and administrative rules.
The Oregon Cosmetology Laws and Rules Examination (OLRE) is the closed-book written test the Health Licensing Office requires before it certifies a practitioner in any field of practice. It covers only Oregon enacted law: the Oregon Revised Statutes and the Oregon Administrative Rules that govern the trade.
The exam has 90 multiple-choice questions and you have 90 minutes to answer them.
You need at least 75 percent, which works out to roughly 68 of the 90 questions. There is no separate must-pass section: the pass is decided on the overall score.
Every question comes from Oregon law across seven areas: definitions, facility standards, practice standards, facility operations, examinations, licensing and certification, and chemicals. Facility standards and definitions carry the largest share.
You may retake a failed examination as soon as the next business day, up to the tenth failed attempt. The written exam fee is 45 dollars.
Work through the full bank of questions by topic, with the correct answer and a plain-English explanation revealed after every question.
Sit a timed 90 question paper under the real 90 minute limit and see whether you clear the 75 percent pass mark.
Drill the definitions, lists, fees and numbers that the law exam turns into questions, one fact per card.
