How many questions are on the AGE Auxiliar y Administrativo exam?
It depends on which corps you are sitting. The Cuerpo General Auxiliar de la Administración del Estado (subgrupo C2) exercise has 110 multiple-choice questions in 90 minutes. The Cuerpo General Administrativo de la Administración del Estado (subgrupo C1) first exercise has 90 questions in 100 minutes. Both figures come from the current convocatoria, the Resolución de 18 de diciembre de 2025 (BOE-A-2025-26262) issued by the Secretaría de Estado de Función Pública.
Each sitting also carries 5 reserve questions (preguntas de reserva) on top of that count. They are not scored unless the selection board voids one of the main questions after the exam, in which case a reserve question steps in to replace it.
What is the pass mark for the AGE exams?
Both exams are split into two parts, and each part is separately eliminatory. Every part is scored from 0 to 50 points, and you need 25 points to pass that part. Because the two parts are eliminatory, a strong score on one part does not compensate for failing the other; you must clear 25 on each.
The raw number of correct answers that translates into those 25 points is not fixed in advance. The Comisión Permanente de Selección sets that conversion after the exam, once it has seen how candidates actually performed, and the convocatoria only guarantees the cut-off will not fall below 30% of the maximum obtainable raw score. In practice this means the exact “questions right” you need can shift slightly from one sitting to the next, though it will never go below that floor.
Is there negative marking?
Yes, on both exams. Every wrong answer deducts one third of the value of a correct answer, while blank answers are not penalised at all. That makes blind guessing a bad strategy on questions you can eliminate down to two or three options, but a neutral one on questions where you have no idea, since a blank costs you nothing.
What does each part of the exam actually cover?
The two corps share a lot of syllabus but split it differently across their two parts.
- Auxiliar (C2), primera parte: the organisational and legal syllabus (the Constitution, the organisation of the State, transparency and open government, administrative law, data protection, public employment, budgets, and equality and social policy) plus psychometric aptitude questions across verbal, numerical and administrative-task reasoning.
- Auxiliar (C2), segunda parte: office IT and citizen-facing tasks, covering public attention and archive procedures, e-administration, basic computing, Windows, Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and Internet.
- Administrativo (C1), primera parte: the same broad legal and administrative syllabus as Auxiliar, plus office IT, but weighted more heavily toward public employment (función pública) and financial management, since C1 is the higher subgrupo.
- Administrativo (C1), segunda parte: a supuesto práctico, a single administrative case file followed by a set of questions asking how the law applies to the facts described.
One syllabus tema is deliberately left out of this app’s coverage: the organisation of the European Union, part of bloque I in both programmes. The consolidated EU treaty text could not be sourced and archived reliably, so no questions are drawn from that tema; it is still on the official syllabus and worth studying separately from the EU’s own texts.
